Jo Koonan As trial consultant with National Jury Project/West since 1987, Karen Jo Koonan has worked on over 1,500 cases and is highly regarded for her expertise in civil rights, employment, personal injury, and criminal defense as well as commercial litigation. Specializing in mock jury research, trial simulations and in-court assistance with jury selection, Ms. Koonan has also developed a unique and effective methodology for witness preparation for both trial testimony and deposition. Ms. Koonan is a frequent speaker for many local, state and national organizations including the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the California Bar Association. She has conducted training programs sponsored by the U.S. District Court on jury selection and voir dire. Karen Jo Koonan is a contributor to Jurywork: Systematic Techniques and is the co-author of the civil rights chapter. She has authored numerous articles in practice manuals and other legal publications. As the past national President of the National Lawyers Guild, she was the first non-attorney in the organization's sixty year history to hold this office. |
